Bad Week

Haven't posted much this week as I have had a bad bad week. It started on Saturday, had a great weigh in, lost 3lbs, however, went out that evening with Mr C's sister and husband for a curry and a few vino's, well A LOT of vino's. The next day had a toasted cheese sandwich for the hangover, tut tut tut. On Monday it was a friends birthday, so went to another friend's house for a curry and a few more glasses of vino plus some chocolate cake, which I worked out to be 600 calories per slice! OMG!!!!

So this week I have been trying to claw back the calories, I still have 208 to claw back for the weigh in on Saturday. BUT my parents are coming up this weekend so more food and vino. My mid-week weigh-in indicated that I have stayed the same. This is the best I can hope for this week. If I stay the same, I will be pleased. :)

Weigh in

This week, I have lost 3lb, my weight is now 8st 10. Whooo hooo. I am really pleased with this weight loss. I have been really concentrating on recording all my calories, hopefully I will carry this through to the end of the diet. I will be concentrating on my fitness and exercise, then the combination will help maintain this weight loss. I am aware that it is difficult to lose 2-3lb every week. So I will be happy with a 1lb loss next week. :)

Going out for an Indian tonight, will be having a few drinkies too, so no snacks for me today and just soup (no bread) for lunch! Having tandoori chicken as it is a dry dish with no cream or ghee! Have planned to have 2 glasses of wine and 2 vodka's with slimline tonic! Wish me luck! x x

Week 1 - 1 lb lost

Usually I would be a bit pee'd off with only losing a 1lb but I know know that you need to burn 3500 cals to lose 1lb. That is a lot of cals to sacrifice or to burn through exercise. So I am happy. However, last week I broke myself into the whole diet thing, not weighing everything I ate and I only exercised for 3 times a week. So this week I will be exercising more and being much more strict with myself when it comes to writing everything down and weighing all by pasta/rice/veg's etc.

Woohooo 8st 13! In the 8st bracket again!

Diets

As expected we are being bombarded with new 'celeb' diets, I see we have Camilla dallerup doing the GMTV diet. Didn't she have to leave the jungle because she was underweight and couldn't cope with the food rationing? Great role model there ..... please. I also see that Hannah Waterman has dropped 6 dress sizes in 5 months. That sounds like a healthy way to loose weight. I am watching 'My Big Fat Diet' and it is not that bad, it is showing people how many calories there are in everyday food and it is quite an eye opener. They are having 1200 calories a day for two weeks, which sounds OK maybe a bit low if they are exercising too.

My day has gone well, I really need to work on breakfast, I am considering porriage especially in the winter.

Breakfast: Bruch bar and coffee
Lunch: Ham salad sandwich on wholemeal bread, apple and strawberry jelly.
Dinner: Spicy tomato and bacon penne pasta.

Cals: 1079.

Carbs - 53%
Protein - 15%
Fat - 32%

Almost matching the weight loss resources recommended ratio!

I am doing the EA active on the Wii again today!

I didn't manage breakfast this morning either :(

Breakfast - A brunch bar and a coffee.
Lunch - Ham salad sandwich, a strawberry jelly and an apple. 500mL water.
Dinner - Thai fishcakes and salad. 500mL water.

Snacks - Thornton's caramel sweet and a kinda santa.

Ouch, ouch, ouch!!!!!!!!!!

Chicken Saag - Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm

This is the best curry I have made, I have adapted the recipe from one I found on recipezar, a brilliant source of recipes. The recipe makes 2 generous sized portions.

Ingredients

2 medium onions chopped
4 gloves of garlic finely chopped
1 inch of ginger finely chopped
1 can of chopped tomatoes (440g)
Baby spinach chopped (140g)
Chicken thighs roughly chopped (400g)
4 tablespoons of semi-skimmed milk
1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon of ground tumeric
1/2 teaspoon of ground coriander
1 teaspoon of garam masala
2 cardamon pods
1 teaspoon of salt
1 tablespoon of olive oil

Method

1. Brown the chicken in the olive oil ( I use a large heavy based pan)
2. Remove the chicken and drain away any excess oil/fat from the chicken
3. Wilt the spinach down in a separate pan and strain.
4. Add half the onions and all of the tinned tomatoes to a blender and blend until you have a smooth paste.
5. Fry the onions, garlic and ginger in a small amount of oil in the pan you used for browning the chicken until golden brown.
6. Add the tomato and onion paste to the onions and garlic.
7. Add the salt, coriander, cayenne pepper, cardamon pods and turmeric and cook for 10 mins on a low heat. (I cover the pan at this point)
8. Add the chicken and milk and cook for 10 mins on a low heat.
9. Add the spinach and garam masala and cook for a further 15 mins.

Serve with rice and/or naan bread.

Day Two

He he, been here before but this time it will get past Day Two!!

I was so sore today, my ass hurts so much I can hardly sit down on it. So I have decided to have a day off from exercising but I did manage to persuade the other half to go for a 3 mile walk. Got up really late (11.30) so breakfast and lunch were kinda intermingled and only had a snack of nuts after the walk and proceeded onto dinner.

Breakfast/lunch - Malt wheat's (45g) and semi skimmed milk (50mL)

Snack - 28 g of dry roasted peanuts.

Dinner - Chicken Saag with rice and a small naan bread - this is a lovely recipe, best curry I have made from scratch.

Drinks - 3 cups of coffee with semi-skimmed milk and 3 glasses of water.

Also, made my sandwiches ready for tomorrow, not looking forward to going back to work! I am going to miss Mr CM so so much.

EA active, no make that EA death!

Oh my, oh my.

Today marked the start of the diet and exercise regime. The postie bought me a new present today so I thought I would give it a go, well it almost finished me off!!! I am still red faced, 40 mins later. EA active is tough and I thought it would be another of those faddy Wii games that don't do much. Maybe I am out of practice and in time it will get repetitive and easy. We will have to see. Anyway, I burnt 174 cals which can only be good.

Diet:

B - 45g of wheat cereal, 50 mL semi-skimmed milk. 2 coffee's
L - Heinz tomato soup and two slices of wholemeal bread and spread. 1 pint of water.
D - 1/2 a rack of lamb, roast potatoes and parsnips, brocolli and carrots. 1 pint of water.

2010

Well here it is New Years Day, and I am writing the inevitable new year post. Bet you can't guess the theme?? It is of course the DIET, the FITNESS and the NEW ME post!!!!!

So how am I going to achieve this, well with regular exercise and eating properly of course. Duh.

My diet for today, crisps and chocolate :) I am nursing the hangover from hell and cannot be arsed to make anything to eat, so its whatever I can grab. But I am sitting here making a plan and thinking about the future.

Life sucks at the moment, but somehow I have to get through the shit and make it to 2011, hopefully fitter and slimmer.
